Abandoned House in Lapland
Hello!
Since the beginning of this year, I've been busy creating pre-tasks for two different art schools. Finally, I'm done with all the pre-tasks, which releases some more free time for me to work on my own projects and on the YouTube-channel.
So, here is one of the pre-tasks I did for one of the art schools. I was to depict some kind of a change happening in the north, as the school is located in Lapland.
In Finland, for a long time people have been moving from countryside to cities and from north to south. In Lapland there are a lot of abandoned, forgotten houses, especially in the countryside.
I wanted to depict an abandoned, run down house. Reindeers are hanging out in the yard to bring some life to the painting and to express the northern location of this scene.

Some initial sketches.
I combined one "master sketch", taking parts that I liked from the initial sketches.
At first, I was going to have the house be in a forest. I ended up making the the surrounding trees much lower to make the silhouette of the house more striking. Also, in the very north of Finland, the trees are very low.
